Black Friday Deals

I'm part of this Amazon Associates thing on Amazon.com, and because of that, I get a heads up on these special deals they have going on.  One of them is this:

They have a lot of great deals going on even before Black Friday starts.  I'm sitting here as I type looking at them and drooling over some of the stuff...

Rainy Ride

So night before last Liz and I went riding on Kolijah and Orion. :)  It was rainy and wet, but fun.

Liz surprised me with an early Christmas present: a saddle rack for my bareback saddle (and any future saddles) and a bracelet made with hair from Orion's tail. :)

It was rainy and chilly, but it was fun.  We talked about a lot of "real world" stuff.  The more time that passes, the more I have to really think and figure out for sure what I want to do with my life.  Right now it's vet school, and I'm okay with that....but I want to something that I'm excited about every day (or at least close to it).  I love working with horses, and the science behind everything is vastly interesting to me.  I love learning about things I can do to help them.  It was a lot of fun and very interesting learning a lot of the different things that I had to research when I found out the specific tendons that Orion had sprained before I got him.  I loved what I was doing when I was rehabbing him.

I just feel like I need to experience more before I know what I really want.  The nice thing about a bachelor's in biology is that I'll be able to do a lot of stuff with it once I have it.  Narrowing it down to one thing is extremely hard though.  I would love to do something with training, but unless I was amazing at it and had tons of people bringing me their horses, there's no way I could do that for a living and still be able to pay off my college loans (my school costs around $30,000 per year).

I bought a couple of books that finally came last week have a ton of horse related careers and schools.  I'm hoping it will give me some more ideas, to at least consider.

Busyness and aromatherapy

So, I have two papers, two quizzes, a reading analysis, a presentation, and four days of work left before Thanksgiving break starts for me!

That being said, you probably won't be hearing much from me on here from now until Saturday or Sunday.  I will have my nose to the grindstone trying to get everything accomplished.

Also, don't forget to look at my store periodically.  If I get any spare minutes of free time this week, I'll be gradually adding stuff in little by little.  I've already begun a mental list of things I want it to have.  If you go there now, you'll notice that I've added a couple of new sections - Bach Flower remedies and essential oils.  Both are things that I haven't tried yet but have read a ton about and am eager to experiment with.  I ordered a few essential oils for Orion the other night. The ones I got are now displayed under "Orion's stuff".

As an explanation to which ones I got - lavender is great for just about anything.  If you look up the things it can help with, the list seems endless.  Black pepper, lime, peppermint, and eucalyptus, diluted in sweet almond oil, is supposed to be a good for treating tendon and muscle injuries, as well as pain, when used in a massage directly to those muscles or tendons.  While Orion's tendons are pretty much back to normal, I thought it would be good to have these on hand for when I start riding more (Thanksgiving week I have plans to ride with both Chelsea and Liz and I'm looking forward to seeing how he does).  If he shows any signs of soreness or lameness, I can use the oils to see if it helps over the course of the week.  It might also be a good idea to use them anyway before riding as a precaution.

Whatever happens, those are the oils' uses, and they're available through my store, as well as a whole host of others, in the "Essential Oils" section.  And if you're interested enough to order a couple to try out, you can order them directly from my blog.  It's through Amazon, so that's where the order would come from, and your Amazon account is what you would be using.

If you have any questions about anything, feel free to ask. :)

With that, I will bid you adieu, and I hope that everyone has a wonderful week!

A Little Slice of My Life Now Has Its Very Own Store!

Hey everybody! Check this out.

My blog now has its own store...courtesy of Amazon.

You can find most of the books, movies, TV shows, horse products, etc. that I talk about on here.  There is also a tab specifically with links to the things that I have bought for/dealing with Orion - titled "Orion's stuff".

All of those books that I've bought and told you about in the past few months?  They're in the "Books" tab, along with many other books that I have read and enjoyed over the years, plus some that I would like to read in the future.

Specifically under the books tab, is a subcategory called "Horse Fiction".  Within this, there are several book series that I read growing up that led to my love of horses before I ever set foot near one.  There is one very important series missing, that I will be adding later, as it is very very long, and I didn't have time to put it together today.

There is a "Movies/TV" tab that showcases many movies and TV shows that I like, as well as another subcategory within that which is specifically for horse lovers.

If anyone has any additions that they think should be added to the store, be sure to let me know!  I'm excited to get this going.  It's not a huge money-maker for me personally, but to make it easier for other people to enjoy the books/DVDs/horse equipment that I like excites me like you would not believe!

So here you go; you can either click the page tab above, or enter the store here:

Summer Hiking and Camping in West Virginia

Hello, friends. :)   I mentioned last post that I've been scouting out hiking trails for my family on AllTrails and other resources late...
